Will M. HAYS, POSTMASTER Wheeler Stricken Down The illness of Mrs. Wheeler, who has been more than half of the firm publishing the Enterprise, was mentioned in these columns last week. It culminated on Sun day in paralysis of her right side. She suffered a good deal of pain, wae able to take but little food and became weaker and weaker until Tuesday night, when it seemed as if the end was near. Wednesday forenoon there came a »light change for the better. Though she speaks with difficulty, owing to the grip the malady has on her vocal organa, she makes bereelf understood and her com ments and suggestions in regard to affairs at the office and at borne give evidence of an unclouded miud. There seema ground for hope that she may regain normal strength and partial use of the numbed faculties. Missionary Society Meeting A very interesting meeting was held by the Women’s Fureigh Mis sion society of the Methodist church Faiday afternoon at the home of Mra. Orin From. A very instructive lesson on C hi. na was given by Mrs. M. K. Gard ner, assisted by Mr». N. T . Sneed sud Mrs. L. C. Merriam Reports of Mrs. W illiam W ahl and Mrs. Sidney Smith, delegates to the district convention in Eu gene, added interest to the meeting. Mrs. C P. Stafford, accompanied by Mrs Henry English, sang two well-rsceived solos. The names of Mrs. W illia m Wheeler and Mrs. E. K. Gormley were added to the membership roll. The hostess served refreshments. Good Lyceum Number The Rugene Page trio who came to Halsey Tuesday evening were greeted by the largest attendance yet present at a lyceum number, and the most enthusiastic. Few w” t ". tb a l. wben » « Mre com plain- seats were empty sud the frequent . ing of the high coat I applause attested the appreciation 1 of our people. It is not possible to state which numbers were most enjoyed. Ed- gtns Page, with his stringed in . «trumsnts, shared honors with tbs two ladies, the humorous reader and tbs soloiat, who ia the pos sessor of a very lovely voice. The reader with her pleasing personality won her audienoe from the first and her work was enthu. siasticslly applauded. The Eugene Page trio made a bit, separately as well as collec tively, and tbe lyceum guarantors feel well pleased with the result. The fourth and last numtier of tbe course, the Harmony four, will be here February 14 and a crowded bouse is anticipated. Over 820 was taken in at the door, in addi tion to previous sales of tickets. bRKiNG D ollars will provide JOBS FOR.
